Ben Whishaw in Wonderland Magazine

It’s rare that Ben actually gets featured in a magazine (which is crazy because he’s so talented), but Wonderland did a beautiful thing and decided to do a great feature on him that was really interesting to read.  While I’m really disappointed that Bright Star is being overlooked at all of the major award ceremonies, I’m really excited to see his next film the Tempest and I’ve heard nothing but great things about his recent play “Cock.” AND HOPEFULLY I’ll be seeing his new play in NYC over spring break!!

A few choice quotes and more pictures after the cut!

That sound you hear is me squealing because summer movie season is finally over and now, my favorite time of the year is about to begin: fall movie season, which leads into Awards Season.  Meaning some really, really, REALLY good movies are about to head your way and a lucky few will make it to the Oscars.

I decided to do a post about some upcoming indies that might (and will probably) get overlooked come Award Season because of the standard “Oscar-fair”, but that doesn’t make them any less special.  So why don’t you come inside to take a sneak peak at the trailers of some new independent films that I’m really excited for…. Bright Star Trailer!

The trailer for “Bright Star” dropped this week and I could not be more excited for it.  (Minus the trailer voiceover which obviously won’t be in the movie)  I’ve heard it’s being touted as an early Oscar contender and I’m hoping Ben Whishaw, who plays the part of poet John Keats, gets a nod.  For those of you who haven’t seen any of his movies, RUN and rent some (“I’m Not There”, “Perfume”, “Brideshead Revisited” etc–IMDB it up).  He’s clearly one of the most talented British actors of his generation.  According to IMDB: The drama [Bright Star] based on the three-year romance between 19th century poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne, which was cut short by Keats’ untimely death at age 25.

The trailer looks incredibly romantic and beautifully shot and you can check it out below…. Continue reading
