“Kids” is one of those rare, great movies that is so unflinchingly honest and real that you completely forget you’re watching a movie with actors. It’s as if director Larry Clark pulled these kids off the innercity NYC streets and asked them to improv for a movie and this is what he filmed. The result is something brutal, raw, and extremely hard to take in at moments. Within the last five minutes, I was sitting in my seat horrified at what was about to happen and how hopeless the whole situation was. But that’s only half of Kid’s brilliance. Continue reading
