The wrongly maligned year of Christina Aguilera

Poor Christina Aguilera.

2010 was supposed to be her star, comeback year after disappearing for more than 4 years.  She had been hailed as having one of the best voices in pop music, and she was also one of the sexiest for a while.  For months there had been buzz about the release of “Bionic”–it had been hyped for months due to the amount of collaborators Aguilera would be working with and because it would be her return to the music scene.   With a list of producers like M.I.A., Peaches, Sia, and Nicki Minaj, it seemed like Aguilera would at least have an interesting album to return with.

Then “Not Myself Tonight” was released.

Gaga Wears Stupid Shoes, Falls. Laughter Ensues.

While I enjoy Lady Gaga’s music, I will be the first to admit that she is a complete famewhore and has been getting consistently more and more stuck up this year when discussing her “art.”  I will also admit that sometimes she doesn’t know when to tone down the crazy outfits, and until now they’ve never backfired on her.

SO I couldn’t hold back the laughter when I saw these epic pictures of Gaga falling face first at the airport while wearing some ridiculously high platform boots and then acting like she has no idea what happened.

Come inside for the pictures…. Also, am I the only one who thinks she looks like Marilyn Manson with the short hair?

Who Will Be The Legendary Artists 20 Years From Now?

Last night I was watching Behind the Music: Courtney Love (which was amazing, let me tell you) and I was so taken aback by how RAW she was performing in the nineties that it floored me. I know her tour manager called it a disaster whenever she would open her mouth on stage, but those performances have come to be nothing short of legendary in the past fifteen years.

I’m FINALLY, after almost four long years of unwavering support, getting to see Courtney live a week from today, and while I’m about to die waiting in antcipation, I can only imagine what it would have been like to see Love in her prime.  Yes, she’s clean and sober now and is still putting on a great show, but who doesn’t love Love when she’s stage diving and telling audience members to “get up on stage so I can kick your butt”?  Which got me thinking, which artists of my generation will be the ones that twenty years from now everyone will say, “I would have KILLED to see them in their prime”?

Read on for my possible predictions, and please add yours in the comments! Continue reading

Lady Gaga Covers Rolling Stone Nude… Again

Here’s your first look at Rolling Stone’s new issue with Lady Gaga on the cover, and personally, I believe this could become the iconic image for Gaga.  It’s worlds better than her last cover (with the bubbles)  and everything about it screams controversy (which there has already been a ton of).  The whole image strikes me as very Bowie/androgynous and I like that there’s just a plain white background which directs your attention straight at Gaga.  It’s very simple but really hard at the same time.

The issue supposedly hits newsstands tomorrow although I’m subscribed to Rolling Stone and haven’t received mine yet, so we’ll see…

Let me know what you think about the cover in the comments!

Katy Perry Performs California Gurls (to a mostly dead crowd)

I’ll admit, for a while I was skeptical and worried about if Katy Perry could survive 2010 after America has become the United State of Gaga but with the release of her new single California Gurls I’m beginning to breathe easy. Yes, I love Katy Perry and you can shove it if you don’t.  I saw her live AND have her autograph.

The song has recently clocked in at number two on Billboard and for good reason, it’s a fun, summery song.  Katy recently performed the single at some event the CW was doing (nothing the CW does is noteworthy or important anymore) but oddly the audience was not having it.  Homegirl gave it her all but there was basically no movement, dancing, or hands going up like she requested.  (To which I say, please give me your effing ticket so IIIIII can enjoy it)  Katy gave it her all though and put on a lovely performance which you can watch after the jump!

Celebrity Photographer Tom Munro Publishes New Book

Celebrity photographer Tom Munro has published a new book of fabulous, classy pictures of various A-list celebrities including Christian Bale (above), Lady Gaga, The Queen Madonna, and Johnny Depp.  Along with every picture is text written by Munro about the subjects and his experience photographing them.  Munro offers very interesting perspectives on all of the celebrities featured and my favorite was what he had to say about Gaga as he pretty much hits the nail on the head.

Lady Gaga is going to have no problem being the girl with most cake for her birthday next Sunday.  “Why,” you may ask? That’s because Gaga got some fabulous Russian rose gold vampire grillz today as an early birthday present from the Haus.  AND I WANT THEM!!!!

And why am I posting this when you could just read it on her Twitter?  Because frankly, lately anything Gaga does is genius.

Come inside for a look…. (SHOW ME YOUR TEETH)
