Who Will Be The Legendary Artists 20 Years From Now?

Last night I was watching Behind the Music: Courtney Love (which was amazing, let me tell you) and I was so taken aback by how RAW she was performing in the nineties that it floored me. I know her tour manager called it a disaster whenever she would open her mouth on stage, but those performances have come to be nothing short of legendary in the past fifteen years.

I’m FINALLY, after almost four long years of unwavering support, getting to see Courtney live a week from today, and while I’m about to die waiting in antcipation, I can only imagine what it would have been like to see Love in her prime.  Yes, she’s clean and sober now and is still putting on a great show, but who doesn’t love Love when she’s stage diving and telling audience members to “get up on stage so I can kick your butt”?  Which got me thinking, which artists of my generation will be the ones that twenty years from now everyone will say, “I would have KILLED to see them in their prime”?

Read on for my possible predictions, and please add yours in the comments! Continue reading

Celebrity Photographer Tom Munro Publishes New Book

Celebrity photographer Tom Munro has published a new book of fabulous, classy pictures of various A-list celebrities including Christian Bale (above), Lady Gaga, The Queen Madonna, and Johnny Depp.  Along with every picture is text written by Munro about the subjects and his experience photographing them.  Munro offers very interesting perspectives on all of the celebrities featured and my favorite was what he had to say about Gaga as he pretty much hits the nail on the head.

2009: a Pop Culture Year in Review

Note: Watch this video for a mixtape mash-up of pure pop bliss from 2009.

When I think back on 2009, the first thing I will think of is that it was the most creatively inspiring year of my life.  It’s been a long time since artists seemed to be so excited about their craft and dedicated into putting out work that is interesting, thought-provoking, and daring.  We got Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” video, Beyonce evolving into Sasha Fierce, a new slew of young Hollywood actors rebelling against the formula Lindsay Lohan had strewn along, and a surplus of young indie bands releasing some of their most original work yet.

So, come inside for a look back with me and be sure to leave your comments for some of your favorite parts of 2009. Continue reading

Grammy Nominations Are In!!!

The Grammy nominations were announced last night during a Grammy nomination ceremony (gettin’ all classy this year, I see) and to the surprise of no one, the queen, HBIC, fierce independent woman etc Beyonce SASHA FIERCE Knowles took the lead with ten noms.

Overall, I was pretty pleased with the list.  I was a little shocked by the amount of Black Eyed Peas love, but they put out some great party jams so I have no issues.  And apparently, since Gaga couldn’t be nominated for Best New Artist the Grammys compensated and put her in EVERY CATEGORY IMAGINABLE.  Which she deserves.  But what do you guys think?  Was anyone left off?  Anyone you think absolutely has no place on this list?

Either way a big congrats to all the nominees!!

Complete list after the jump!

Lady Gaga Releases “Bad Romance” Video; World Collectively Dies in Awe

After much delay and hype, Lady Gaga has finally released her video for “Bad Romance”, virtually proving she is the most visually entertaining artist in pop music right now.

Currently, I’m in such a state of shock and awe, that I’m incapable of writing a review other than to say my mind is blown.  Everything in this video is over the top, edgy, fierce and absolutely crazy.  The ending is also pretty freakin’ epic.  So I really have nothing else to say other than I have never been more honored to have her following me on Twitter.

Beyonce Kicks Lindsay Lohan Out of Her Own Dressing Room

Over the weekend Lindsay Lohan hosted the F1 Rocks concert series in Singapore where people like the Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce, and Gwen Stefani performed.

But Beyonce wanted nothing to do with Lindsay Lohan who happened to have the largest dressing room area, which Beyonce had already requested, so what did she do?

No, she didn’t share.  She kicked her out!

According to a source, Beyonce didn’t want Lindsay anywhere near her so she requested for Lindsay to “vacate” the room–which happened.

Lindsay wasted no time complaining to the Daily Mail about the night saying,“I’ve been a bit down. It was a strange night. Everyone was being aggressive and bothering me. I really didn’t like it.”

My love for Beyonce just continues to grow and grow.
